Dear Hossein,
I found your ideas on the interconnectedness of all substance addictions as well as most psychological, mental, and even physical illnesses of great interest. One area of recent evidence of such interconnectedness is the recent finding that DLP1 medications used in the treatment of diabetes and weight control unexpectedly resulted in decreasing cravings for alcohol and other drugs and in some led to cessation of drug use—suggested a possible common root (governance system) to many disorders or at least the potential for a shared therapeutic agent. This reminded me of your observations on the effects of OT treatment of addiction on other health conditions. I look forward to discussing this in more detail with you.
There seems to be growing interest in smoking cessation among addiction treatment leaders in the U.S. I have recently had a surge of requests for our Congress 60 smoking cessation study. Contributing to that interest is growing concern about the use of vaping and smokeless tobacco products among people entering addiction treatment. Is that a concern also in Iran? In contrast to the DST method, most smoking cessation protocol in the U.S. involve only a few weeks of nicotine replacement. I hope future studies of smoking cessation in Congress 60 will lead to wide adoption of the DST method that has helped so many Congress 60 members achieve sustained recovery from nicotine addiction.
I must sign off for now. Please extend my warmest regards to your family and to all members of Congress 60. You are all in my heart.
Friends and Brothers Forever,
Bill
