Mr. Hossein Dezhakam in an interview with the cultural reporter of IRNA: Humor has an attractive and magnificent language
Hossein Dezhakam in an interview with IRNA cultural reporter described the details of the play “A window to the heaven”: “I wrote the play 5 years ago but didn’t finish it. I continuously listened to the programs on TV and the radio to complete the play but I didn’t get any information.”
He added: “The play was left for a while and once I was reviewing my previous notes I came across the play and started to rewrite it.”
The play producer stated that he had written the play using humor since he believed that different subjects could not be understandable if they are complicated, and nobody even listened to them. He asserts: “But I believe that most people accept the discussions if they appear in the form of a game or story and amuse people.”
Putting emphasis on humor as it has a magnificent and eloquent language to make the story sweet, Dezhakam added: “If I wrote the play seriously, it wouldn’t be welcomed and nobody was fond of reading it as the previous ones others wrote.
Referring to the play’s two messages, he said: “First of all we need to explain the subjects simply. According to one of the physicists, we can explain an issue to our 80-year-old grandmother if we have understood it very well. Second, mysticism and philosophy came to help all people live better, not just for avid readers.
The producer of the play” A window to the heaven” said: “Plays must be written in the public interest. Sometimes, we write plays for our colleagues. I think everyone who wants to write a play and bring it on the stage, at first thinks of the reviewers and their points of view to see if it keeps up with world standards and particular styles.”
He added: “When I am asked my play’s style, I say I don’t follow any styles; there are many works in different genres, let it follow no styles.
He said: “Actually, I am not a playwright or novelist but I want to talk about an issue. We need poems and plays to do this. I am not good at writing poems but I can deal with writing plays. We should do something for more audience to be attracted to theaters.
He continued: “I took a look at the sale on the website and found lots of the tickets have been sold for 3 days while the number of other plays’ tickets sold is too limited.
He stated: “Students of theater work hard while the theatre halls are not full. The hall should be full. Another reason is related to Congress60 members’ amusement. They should be educated to go to the cinema with their families or their legion members and use it as much as they can.”
The writer of the play criticized people for not going to the cinema and theater, staying at home and following different foreign TV channels and so on. He also said: “As Congress60’s member learned not to use drugs and cigar and put importance on their losing weight, they should learn to go to the cinema, theater, and museum.
The producer gave his reason to choose the name “A window to the heaven” for the play and said: “the view of mysticism and philosophy is a supernatural one, so they are related to the heaven and other dimensions. I chose the name 5 years ago.
He also explained why he had taken the responsibility of producing the play and mentioned: “I didn’t know any producers, and on the other hand; I undertook all its losses and profits, and I am going to spend its profits on research in Congress60. Every producer has the authority over all the affairs and can give ideas to others.
Dezhakam answered the question “why was Amir Dezhakam chosen as the director of the play”: “Amir Dezhakam is my brother and this is the first reason. He is a university professor and theater lecturer, and many artists are his students. His ability in directing is another reason for me to choose him. He is well-known and expert and it should be noted that he hasn’t received any penny from me to direct the play.
Explaining about employing famous actors in this play, he said: “we have prepared Iftar for many years and I have always told them to prepare the best food. Congess60’s members must act strongly in an artistic work, and we should use experienced and good artists, so we employed those powerful artists who were free.
In answering the question “Have you made any preparations for theater students or other people who are not in a good monetary condition?” he said: “We didn’t give them any discounts and no preparation was made for it because of the huge expense which was paid for the play.”
He answered the question “How much does the play originate from your experience of living among people in the society?”:
“The whole play has originated from my living experiences among the society’s individuals and my studies since I have had many studies on mysticism and philosophy.
Dezhakam also answered the question “why did you use a non-linear narrative and combine surrealism and realism whereas such stories are realistic and are narrated linearly?”:
“I have applied the same style I had in my mind as I did in the book “Edmund and Helga”. I told Amir Dezhakam to leave his own styles aside and do this one without any styles.
He added: “one part of the play has a realistic style, another part has a surrealistic and the rest is humor. All parts are woven together. It is important for us to make a connection with the audience and transfer our message to them. If tens styles were combined in this way, it would be fine.”
The producer mentioned: “The issue that we most encounter is to be more sociable and change our lifestyle. In the last letter I received from my friend, William White, he had written that he had planned to watch 10 plays during autumn and winter. There (in the United States), people attend theaters and concerts to enjoy films and music, go out, and have dinner. It is not important how much money you have; you can order a small sandwich or two sticks of kebab.
