Thank you for your words of encouragement regarding my recent health challenges. I am feeling better and my energy is returning. I hope to be back to my usual level of activity in the very near future. As you note, we do have much to do! At the top of that list must be the book we have been discussing. We have both written volumes about addiction and recovery. That is a blessing in that our ideas and proposed methods of treatment and our philosophy of recovery will be accessible long after we are gone from the earth. The limitation is that the sheer volume of what we have written can make it difficult for readers to locate what we have written on a particular subject for which they seek guidance. That makes exceptionally valuable a volume of selected quotations organized topically that can serve as a daily meditational or a source to be easily consulted as needed by members of Congress 60 and others seeking recovery guidance. Since our last communication, I have thought more about how important such a book of your reflections, guidance, and admonitions could be to those seeking recovery and those seeking ways to flourish in long-term personal and family recovery. I do hope we can continue to discuss this project and how I may be of assistance in your creating such a resource. I continue to get inquiries following the NAADAC presentation on the integration of medication and psychosocial and spiritual (worldview) support in addiction treatment. My use of Congress 60 as an example has also brought many new readers to the Congress 60 papers and your books and interviews on my website. I have had some resulting invitations to write further articles on this which I will consider for 2023. This may include further interviews with you on key topics. Also, please let me know the progress on the university construction. It has been some time since we discussed this.
I have attached a signed copy of the Didehban covenant. Let me know if I have not done this properly and if not I will make corrections in it. Let me say again what a great honor it is for me to accept this position. I am humbled beyond words in serving in this role as best as I am able. We are approaching the Thanksgiving holiday in the United States. Though this holiday has become very commercialized, traditionally it was a time families gathered to celebrate the blessings of their lives. One of the great blessings of my life has been our friendship and collaborations and my relationship with the Congress 60 community.
