Knowledge is the prerequisite for addressing and treating smoking.
Many people, due to ignorance and lack of awareness about a subject, refuse to believe it. Death is an example of this; we not only often think it doesn’t apply to us, but it’s also far off in the distance, while in reality, its time arrives precisely when we don’t expect it. This also holds true for smoking. Larynx or lung cancer can seize a smoker at a moment they don’t anticipate. After falling ill, we only accept the reality when we’ve already lost precious time. We must attain knowledge regarding the issues we face. Mr. Dezhakam states: ‘Our prerequisite for understanding and treating smoking is knowledge. An individual must deeply contemplate it to awaken and desire to take action for smoking treatment.

In the thirteenth article of the book ‘14 Articles about addiction,’ Mr. William White asks Mr. Dezhakam: ‘Why did you overlook the issue of smoking in Congress60?’ He replies: ‘the water was muddy at the source, meaning that I was the smoker, too. Mr. Dezhakam smoked for 35 years and had never attempted to quit. He states: ‘In the early days of Congress60, after the workshops, the hall would become so filled with smoke that we had to install a powerful ventilator on the roof to clear it. Or after sports, during the break, everyone would smoke — which astonished outsiders. The mistaken view was that because the members’ X-system was activated, they were smoking, or we used to say: everyone has studied the harms of smoking, but it’s supposed ‘benefits’ have not been examined. This continued until February 4, 2012, when Mr. Dezhakam had a stroke caused by a minor stress while speaking with an addict. At that moment, he realized he could treat smoking using the DST method. In the hospital, with the doctor’s permission, he obtained nicotine gum, and it was there that the issue of smoking became clear to him.
After being discharged from the hospital, Mr. Dezhakam continued using the nicotine gum and realized that nicotine gum reduced his urge to smoke by more than 50%. This is because the nicotine in the gum is absorbed and to some extent satisfies his need. In response to Mr. William regarding the difference between the implementation of the DST method for addiction and cigarettes treatment, he states: The fundamental principle of the DST method is a constant decrease Coefficient is 0.8, the step time is 21 days at each level; and the minimum time of traveling is 10 months. The DST protocol for treating smoking, after calculating the oral nicotine dosage, is 3 months, which is for initial adjustment to oral usage. Another issue is usage timing. In the implementation of the DST method applied to nicotine treatment, there is no specified time to take oral nicotine, the amount of oral nicotine is calculated from the pack of cigarettes and the number of cigarettes that smoker smokes per a day. For example, if someone smokes 30 cigarettes per day, we begin by calculating the amount of nicotine in a cigarette, which is 0.50 milligrams. if we multiply that amount by the smoker’s daily usage, the total daily nicotine amount will be obtained. For example, the nicotine consumption of someone who smokes 30 cigarettes is 15 milligrams. the daily nicotine amount usage divided by the amount of nicotine in the gum will be the number of nicotine gums needed. The difference that has led to the DST method's success compared to other methods, lies in how this gum is used, as it is not specified in other methods. In other words, in Congress60, smoking cessation is carried out with a specific method and, like the treatment of drugs, must be done in three aspects: body, psyche, and worldview. If we consider a person as a tree and the fruits of the tree as a sign of an individual’s personality, its root is the worldview. If the individual’s worldview is correct, and their thoughts and ideas are reformed, they will certainly achieve recovery.
The best help for individuals intending to treat smoking is to give them information and awareness in the Smoking Cessation Legion. Smoking treatment in Congress60 is voluntary, and members can join this legion after three months into their first-travel journey. Otherwise, they cannot serve within Congress60. Smoking cessation improves breathing, lung function, sleep, coughing during sleep, and restores self-confidence because the process of smoking is entirely linked to the brain’s biochemistry, and a substitution process has occurred. The only way to cease smoking is to gradually reverse this substitution process over 10 months. To treat addiction to alcohol, pills, and cigarettes, the brain’s biochemistry must return to its natural state. To achieve this, we need medication, time, and the right method.
