Watchers' week

The fourth session of the 58^th round of Congress60's educational workshop was held on February 8 2017 under the supervision and mastery of Mr. Dezhakam. Traveler Mehdi was the secretary and the agenda was "Dideban (watchmen's) week".

Master Dezhakam: Hello friends, I am Hossein, a traveler. Hope you are well and I am well to. This week agenda is "Didebans' (watchmen's) week". In Congress60, we have four celebrations in the four seasons (guide's, companions', guards' and watchmen's). in each celebration, Congress60's members speak about the guides, companions, guards and watchmen so that all the people get aware of the efforts they go through. When we started our work, it was as if we had invented the wheel again, because Congress60 cast doubt on many methods in the realm of addiction treatment and reconstructed the views and actions in this regard. This work was not simple and it is not today. It was not easy to overrule all the previous assumptions and beliefs firmly stated by the scholars and researchers all over the world in the scientific addiction treatment books and articles. When all the people encourage an addict to withdraw his consumption, we here encourage him/her to consume drugs, we cast doubt on the current methods and criticize the assumptions and reasoning.

Some people merely criticize the current methods, while they themselves have not proposed anything in return. When you say something is wrong, you have to substitute it with a right one. When you call something wrong, you have to propose something right instead. Congress60 came and introduced the right path and exhibited its live document: the people who have been liberated from addiction, this is the experienced science and this is the faultless evidence. Then, Congress60's members decided to organize this NGO with its own power and members. Thereafter, they noticed that this system must be protected and  Marzbani (the guarding system) was established. Those who wanted to be Marzban volunteered to serve here for 14 months. Then, Congress60 declared that not all people were allowed to serve as guide. The guide must be liberated from addiction and has to have enough knowledge and information. A guide must be in good physical and psychological status. A guide is completely respected in Congress60 and s/he knows their job exactly and comprehensively. It was stated that the treatment method must be the same in all the branches throughout the country. Mr. Torabkhani (guides' dideban) has done great efforts so that everywhere they use the same method of treatment. If we receive better ideas, we will consider  and investigate them.  The important point is that everything was considered from the very beginning, even the book (Crossing the Zone of 60 Degrees below Zero) was written before establishing Congress60. This book has been written 20 years ago and predicted all the issues. There was a very important point: Congress60 had to be managed in a way that it could keep alive in every situation and condition in the present and future.

I implore the Lord to keep the elders for each society, town and country. Having a fair and just elder is a very great gift. If a system enjoys having a just elder and all the members obey them, this will be an active and dynamic system. I am your elder, but  I did not have to do all the works here. I had to trust you. When someone is going to do something, s/he will face many problems like a person to whom a text is dictated, s/he will make some mistakes. I had some presumptions in mind: 1) to correct wrong methods, 2) to trust people 3) Congress60 has started a job whose end is not in our hand (we cannot control its progress). That is why Congress60 cannot be closed, if it is closed on one day, it will start from another point in the future. From the very beginning, Congress60 's decisions were made by a council of elders because if one and only one person decides for Congress60, everything collapses. From the first day, I wanted to construct such a system which is not dependent on me. I thought that if one day in future I cannot attend Congress60, there must be a council which can handle everything. Under any conditions, this system manages everything. This system consists of 14 Dideban (watchmen). This system was constructed 20 years ago but it has 13 members right now. In that time, I selected the first member; then we two consulted together to select the third one. Other members were also selected with consultation. Many cases are proposed for this position and we examine their manner and behavior and an election is held. I had an experience six or seven years ago. One day, I took my suitcase and left my office. No one knew except Amin, when I came back I found out that everything was run very well and nothing had happened. That is why we have Dideban's week, so that we realise what they do in Congress60, that is why I have written that Didebans are the cornerstone on which the Congress60's column is based. The main work in Congress60 is on the Didebans' shoulders. They are all in the decision-making council and all have some duties to perform. They have to decide on any issues, this means that we have elders in Congress60.

We celebrate this day in all the Congress60's branches, we have to respect our elders so that they respect us. If we tell lies, our children learn this from us. Whatever we do will back to us soon.  

In a Japanese movie, a man put his father in a basket and took him to the mountains and told him I would come and take you back. He left the place and never returned. The man became old and his son put him in a basket and took him to the mountains. He told his father sit here and I would come and take you back. His father told him "wait a moment; 30 years ago I did the same to your grandpa. I made a mistake, do not repeat a mistake again. Your son will do the same to you in near future!" Therefore, we have to respect the elders and the elders must know this and respect people. The guides and the marzbans (guards) and all the travelers and companions must be in good relationship. I wholeheartedly respect the didebans.

Another point is that some members had commented that there are too many educational CDs for the Congress60's exam. I decided to deduct nine CDs. Some have asked the reason why "Edmond and Helga" has been included in the source of the exam. Please remember that "Edmond and Helga" is a seemingly simple book; however, it has deep and complicated philosophical issues in it. These complex philosophical issues are stated in comic style. Now I want the Didebans to come here and speak.
