Communications of Hossein and Bill

Dear Hossein,

I am delighted to hear that our first paper is getting so many hits on the Congress 60 website.  It is also getting a lot of hits on my website.  As a follow-up to posting the paper, I have sent copies to a number of key researchers in the U.S. who are involved in international research, with hopes that others may have an interest in future collaborations with us.  I think it would be wonderful to find young researchers in Iran and in the U.S. who could collaborate on taking our research on the DST method and other aspects of the Congress 60 approach to treating addiction into the future.  I would like to insure that our work continues well into the future.

On a related front, a coalition of addiction and recovery support leaders is preparing a statement on the need to incorporate smoking cessation within American addiction treatment programs.  I think this effort will gain momentum with the publication of our paper on smoking cessation within Congress 60.  I hope all the members of the William White Legion realize that they are making history through their lives, and that many others may escape disease and premature death because of the example they have forged.

I look forward to hearing more about the summer camp and viewing photos of this experience and setting.  I would like to hear more details about the daily activities that take place during the camp.

In the U.S., many recovery advocates are preparing for the Unite to Face Addiction march on Washington (https://www.facingaddiction.org/).  It is the first national rally of this kind that focuses on affirming the large number of people in long-term recovery and mobilizing support for expanded public education, addiction treatment, and recovery support services.  My health limitations may prevent me from traveling there, but I am doing all I can to support the event.

My best wishes to all of those who will be participating in the traveler wrestling cup.

I hope you and your family are well and enjoying the summer.  I had a wonderful visit with my daughter Alisha, who has now returned to begin the new semester teaching at Western Illinois University.  She loves teaching and is looking forward to the new students she will have this year.

Friends and Brothers Forever,
